Pull outside on the blind side of the tucked in left back, just inside the box. He moves up a yard. Adjust feet quickly and stay on onside, now edge of the box.

Midfielder Fernandes receives the ball inside left deeper. Read what he's going to do. As expected, he opens out on the ball. Now get side on to goal; Prepare to run forward for the deep diagonal cross. Boom! Fernandes drives the ball fast. It's going to be perfect, into the space behind the detreating defender. Keep one yard of space from him for the ball to fall into. Sprint forward!
Watch the flight of the ball. It will clear the defender. It’s a tight angle, just outside the corner of the 6-yard box. Can see the keeper move to cover the near post. There is only one option to score; Volley across the keeper.
Ok, visualise the finish, far corner. Ball is clearing his head. Connect with right foot laces. Get there fast, stay solid, balanced; Now controlled swing to strike, toes down for laces and punch hard, it will need a lot of pace to beat the keeper into the small window of a target in the far corner.
And hit! Take off the left foot to keep control, power and balance. Before he can react the ball rockets past the keeper, shooting through that smallest of windows into the side netting inside the far post.
Wow what a goal! What a skill. Only a master technician could take that on and execute, of which Ronaldo has proven he is time and time again. Hoddle, Hughes, Van Basten, Zidane, Cahill amongst others, come to mind with similar historic volleyed goals.
