Everyone's dropped off into defensive lines inside the half. Time to be patient as Juventus move the ball in centre midfield. Standing just inside own half, teammate Moura is jockeying the Juve midfielder. Mistake! A chance: the midfielder's done a Cruyff turn in the centre. Moura pounces on the loose unprotected ball, tapping it forward just into their half in the centre circle. React! Burst powerfully forward towards the ball. Get in front of the defender on the left shoulder.
Awareness. No need to directly look at where the goalkeeper is; Instinctive, peripheral vision sees he's on the edge of his box. Decision made, lets catch him off his line. Eyes now on the ball; Its rolling on an angle towards the run. Visualise the strike, see it in a flash split second. Time the left landing foot just right, away from the ball to allow for the roll, and launch a right foot laces strike through the centre of the ball. Connect!
The ball flies towards the goal; it's got the power; it's got the direction. Can it clear Chesney? Who’s realised he's in danger, turning and running back towards goal. The ball arches over him, there's no way he'll make it. The crowd noise rises as the realisation sets in. The ball loses power as it dips, but its momentum is enough, bouncing on the line and into the net.
That's a special moment, a wonder goal!
